We were so sad when we had to leave our sweet new cottage behind only days after if FINALLY became ours! We are incredibly blessed to have the most thoughtful, giving, creative, knowledgeable and hardest working family members who have all dedicated days of their lives to renovating and upgrading Wayfarer Cottage while we’re away. They truly are the “dream team” and we are so, so thankful for them!
We received the following updates from my wonderful aunt, when she, my uncle, my cousin, and their electrician friend spent a weekend a the house in mid-July:
Heater
· The heater and installed it in the wall to the left of the kitchen. Ian did the dirty work and crawled under the house (eeww!), was greeted by startled mice (again eeww!) but braved the elements and moved the wiring to the new location. Loren joined him under the house at the end to make sure everything was good.
Blue Bedroom
· All plugins and switches replaced with new white units.
Where Wall Was Removed
· drywall was removed so it can be framed with molding
Fuse Boxes
· We mapped the boxes and I am creating a chart to reflect what each fuse controls. I was only shocked 5 times on Saturday which actually came in sort of handy alerting us that the current mapping was incorrect. Also, the amperage of the majority of the fuses was incorrect for the amperage of the wiring.
· We replaced the majority of the fuses with the correct amperage but need to purchase a couple more.
· Loren is going to price the materials needed to update the system and get back to me.
North Bedroom (bunk room)
· Hanging wire was rerouted through the studs
· 3 new plugin boxes installed
· Existing switches/plugins were replaced with white units
Bathroom
· All switches/plugins replaced with white units (with exception of the GFCI)
· Temporary white shower curtain installed for stinky work crew members =)
Kitchen
· Corner shelf removed (Ian was the demo man!) Cabinet is veneered which peeled off. Will finish cabinet end with molding and it will be lovely!
· There is no paneling behind shelf (another ex-window). Will fill empty space with paneling on another trip (2 strips).
· Just one outlet updated
Misc.
· All doors, windows, door jams were primed
· Paneling above fireplace primed
· Ceilings cleaned with TSP
See? Told you they were hard workers! All of that was completed over the weekend. And, they did a great job documenting their experience!
We just received several new pictures from Isaac’s parents and my mom (our other fabulous dream team members!), and we will be posting those updates soon!
