We absolutely love the expat life! This unique opportunity to explore and experience the world is an amazing gift, however living overseas can be tough at times. Distance from loved ones, cultural differences, and the lack of convenience and familiarity can all take a hard toll on your heart (and patience levels!). We have found that the people we surround ourselves with can dramatically counteract all of those challenges and help us to feel settled and happy. We are SO fortunate that our school community is filled with warm and loving individuals who make our life in Shanghai so much more enjoyable!
Teachers, parents and students have all been incredibly supportive throughout our pregnancy. Our school community has provided us with more well-wishes, thoughtful gestures, gifts and love than we could have ever imagined!
We were contacted by a PAFA (Parent and Faculty Association) member after Isla’s birth, asking for a few photos of her for a school bulletin board. Several days later we were sent these photos of the board. How amazing is it that our school would take the time to celebrate Isla’s arrival in such a sweet and public way?! We are so, so thankful to be part of such an amazing and tight-knit community!
