Hello Hawaii, can I come over? I’m a haole from the mainland looking for a new amore. Does anyone else remember this song from the Garfield in Paradise movie?
Anyone?
Bueller?
Well, it popped into my head as soon we arrived in Maui this past October and played on repeat for the entire trip!
We came to Maui to photograph our dear friends’ wedding at the gorgeous beachfront Olowalu Plantation House. It was such a fabulous day and we cannot thank Ben and Fiona enough for the experience!
Nana and Papa came with us to watch the kiddos while we were working during the wedding festivities. We then enjoyed a week of relaxation together and had the best time!
We rented a condo at the Aston Maui Hill and absolutely loved it. We had views of the ocean and were just a short walk from the pool. Isla STILL talks about wanting to go back to Maui and stay in the exact same condo on an almost daily basis.
Our little fishy loved swimming under water and spent lots of time practicing her swimming skills with Papa.
Cole enjoyed his first few swims while we were in Maui, and he was so calm the entire time. He is definitely a little water baby!
Isaac took a surfing lesson and loved it! The kids and I sat on the shore and acted as his cheering section. Truth be told, we were really impressed by how often he could stand up on the board.
While Isaac’s #1 vacation priority was to learn to surf, I pretty much made it my goal to consume my weight in fresh ahi. I did a pretty good job too. It is worth noting that the poke at South Maui Fish Co. is incredible!
Ben and Fiona had Ululani’s shave ice at their wedding (amazing, right?!) and we couldn’t wait to take Isla, Nana, and Papa to experience the best shave ice on the island. We made quite a few trips to Ululani’s during our stay. Yum!
Isla turned 4 while we were in Maui, and we truly couldn’t have imagined a more perfect celebration for our little mermaid! We started the day with breakfast on our lanai and a cinnamon roll “cake” tower. After opening presents, and trying on her new Moana outfit, we spent the remainder of the morning at the pool. We rounded out Isla’s birthday celebration with a Luau at the Old Lahaina that evening. We all had an absolute ball!
Isla had found a “lukulele” she loved when we were shopping, and sneaky Nana got it for her as a birthday present. Isla couldn’t wait to try it out!
^ The most “Isla” photo there ever was! Love, love, love our sparkly girl!
Isla found this dress at an ABC store and it was love at first sight! She was so excited to wear it for the luau.
Love these sweet babies!!!
Oh hey, look where we found ourselves again!
One of the shave ice makers gave Isla an ice ball and she wasted no time surprising Papa with it!
On our last day in Maui we visited the Maui Ocean Center.
Who’s the cutest shark here?
Isla’s first taste of Dole Whip. Absolute bliss!
We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to share this time with Nana and Papa in beautiful Maui. We are already looking for opportunities to go back!
