Bath time… definitely not Isla’s favorite time of the day. No, in fact, I think I can say with complete confidence that baths are Isla’s least favorite activity. This kiddo prefers to remain clothed and dry. Since losing her umbilical cord we’ve been able to submerge her in the tub, which she tolerates a little bit more than the running water baths, but for the most part baths just make Isla really upset… and thus bath time becomes a mad dash to wash, shampoo and rinse my poor screaming baby as quickly as possible .
We have been bathing Isla in the kitchen sink, but the lack of insulation in our house and declining temperatures outside have quickly made our first floor quite nippy. That chill was just the nudge I needed to move our wonderful free-standing infant tub up to our bathroom on the third floor, where the temperatures are much warmer.
I let Isla doze in her car seat while I showered, so the bathroom got nice and warm. Then I prepared her bath, laid out her towel and clothes, and triple checked that I had all I needed within arm’s reach. Isla resisted the water at first, but settled in pretty quickly. She remained quite content, and dare I say, a little happy, through the whole bath.
Oh my goodness, that face on the right just kills me!
After Isla’s bath I decided to try a new drying tactic that works well with our friends’ 3 month old…
Understandably, she was a little weary of the dryer at first, but quickly relaxed. She was warm and dry in no time. And the best part? No tears! Let’s hope we have just as much success with future baths.
That is one clean, dry, and happy little bug!
While I was dressing her, Isla found a new friend in the mirror…
Oh! My heart is melting. It doesn’t get any cuter than that!
