Back in Bangkok

It’s spring break, hooray!!! To begin our holiday we attended the 2012 EARCOS conference in Bangkok. I’m not sure I can even express how much we love being back in Thailand! As soon as we stepped out of the airport we felt the beautiful country wrapping us in a wonderfully familiar, humid hug. Love it, love it, love it!

We arrived at the Bossotel sometime around 1:30 am, quickly checked in and headed straight to bed, as we had to be up early for the conference. Surprisingly, waking up wasn’t as hard as expected and we made it to the conference with plenty of time to get checked in. Our day was filled with meaningful, inspiring presentations! Often these sessions were held in small rooms that were packed to the gills. At our final session of the day, I saw a man peek in and instantly recognized his face. He turned out to be our dear friend Toby’s brother! I absolutely love when instances like that occur and the world feels a little smaller! We had a wonderful time getting to know Travis and invited him to join us for dinner that evening, as we were meeting with Julie. We met at our favorite little corner restaurant that we eat at every time we travel to Bangkok. Julie, now a bronze version of her former self after two months in Thailand, arrived with a beautiful orchid bouquet. I didn’t tell Julie about running into Travis, and instead let her recognize the family resemblance and enjoy the surprise! We enjoyed a merry evening visiting with Julie and our new Tebo friends, all while feasting on the most delicious pad thai and icy singhas. As the night grew later we walked along Charoenkrung Rd in search of our favorite coconut custards for dessert. These steaming, creamy little sweets did not disappoint! We bid a sad farewell to Julie at this point, as she had an early flight to Bali to catch, and then returned to the Bossotel for an hour of glorious foot rubs! A perfect end to our fabulous fist day in Bangkok!

The next day we enjoyed more rousing lectures and sessions at the EARCOS conference. We are so thrilled we chose to attend this conference- it was a wonderful experience! That evening we met up with Jen and Chip, both friends from Dubai, and again returned to our favorite corner restaurant for more scrumptious pad thai. Delightful conversation and catching up ensued and we finished the evening with another glorious hour of foot massages!

Auntie Julie is a hit with every Tebo child, it appears=)

We were at the Blue Souk in Sharjah with Toby and Deb when they got the call that darling little Isabelle had been born… isn’t that crazy?! Feel like we’ve known this little cutie forever!
