Isla’s saying, “Hello, world! So excited to meet you in a few weeks!” We had a great 34 week check up with our baby girl. She is just over 4.5 lbs and is growing strong. The doctors do not think my gestational diabetes are affecting her, which is a HUGE relief for this Momma. Based on her growth patterns and current size, they predict she will be somewhere between 6.5 and 7.5 lbs at her delivery. Can’t believe that will be just 5-6 weeks away!
Oh, I just love those sweet little hands already!
An ultrasound specialist did our scan and every time she tried to get a clear look at Isla’s face, Isla would throw her hands up in front of it. Our mid-wife, Lin, joked that she was going to be famous and just practicing for the paparazzi ;). We did manage to get a few shots of her face, although she moved so much that they were a bit distorted (and hilarious!). I can’t wait to see those little features for real!
A few other entertaining moments during our scan that reminded us we were in China:
1. The ultrasound specialist loudly burped… and didn’t acknowledge it or excuse herself.
2. We received comments like, “Oh, big nose.” and “She has chubby cheeks just like you, Mom!” No sugar-coating here! Of course, there were plenty of “Cute” and “Beautiful” comments as well =).
We are incredibly thankful our Isla is doing so well… especially since regulating my blood sugar has been a fairly frustrating process. Not long now until we get to kiss those chubby little cheeks… and nose (however big or small it may be!).
