Mother’s Day 2019 was one of those deeply joyful days I hope to remember forever. The day wasn’t necessarily perfect, but then again it was- much like the journey of motherhood! I want to preserve it all though, the mundane and the magical, so I can relive this day over and over in my mind…
My problem solving skills were tested first thing in the morning, as I used shampoo, dish soap, olive oil, and a boat load of conditioner to try and remove sap from my adventurous little Isla’s very long and very thick hair. Next I made trips to two different grocery stores to find oven cleaner. After that I cleaned the kitchen and prepped dinner for the family gathering we were hosting that evening. Then I ran around frantically finishing up last minute details on the gifts I’d been planning and working on for months, all the while wondering how I manage to be so last minute on even the projects I started working on so early?! On top of all these tasks I also dedicated much of the day to surprising Isla. Yes, on Mother’s Day. Which, honestly felt like the very best way to celebrate, because there are few feelings greater than being able to give your child something they REEEEEALLY want and that will provide them immeasurable joy.
Isla has been asking for her own little kitten for years. Literally. Years. We surprised her with this precious little guy, making her number one wish come true, and that moment was EVERYTHING!!! Watching the surprise and excitement wash over her face, seeing her eyes shine with tears, listening to her joyful giggles- I thought my heart would burst!
Welcome to the family, Charlie Miller Marshall. We sure are glad you are here.
The moment where Isla and Charlie first met. I’m not sure I have ever witnessed anything sweeter!
Cole loved Charlie instantly. Not sure that we can say the feeling is mutual…
The little loves of my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you for making me a Mommy!
