We totally get it– the holidays are a busy time and the thought of adding more might seem overwhelming! Advent Activities don’t have to be stressful or time consuming. You can add a lot of magic to your family’s Christmas experience with just a little effort and enthusiasm! Below are the strategies we use to keep our advent activities simple and stress-free:

Our favorite super simple advent activities that require little to no extra planning:
- Christmas music dance party (takes 5-10 minutes and zero planning! Plus, it helps the kids burn off steam before bed)
- Dinner by the tree (last year we were tired after a long day and just ordered take out– it’s amazing how eating by the tree can make even the simplest meal seem like something special!)
- Walk/drive around your neighborhood to look at lights (we play Christmas music on our phones as we walk to make the outing more festive)
- Draw a Christmas picture (use the supplies you already have at home)
- Read holiday books (find our favorites HERE)
- Watch a favorite Christmas movie
- Have a Christmas sing along
- Candy Cane Hunt (hide candy canes around the house and have your kiddos find them. A friend shared this great idea with us: give all the kids headlamps and turn off the lights for an added challenge!)
- Play a Christmas game, like Spot It! Holiday
- Play Peppermint Tic Tac Toe (use the red and white round peppermints and green and white round mints as player pieces)
- Festive manicure or pedicure (the potential for mess is here with this one, but if you have some red, green and/or white nail polish, you’re good to go!)
